Job Description

Position: Open: 30 October 2009 Close: 23 November 2009 Location: Personal and Family Readiness Division, HQMC Information Technology Branch (MRI) 3044 Catlin Avenue Quantico, VA 22134-5099

Type of Appointment: Regular Full-Time (35-40 hours per week)

Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday **Tour of duty may change based upon work requirements**

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works as Programmer Analyst to support Marine Corps Family Team Building (MCFTB) software business applications. Collects user requirements, recommends solution alternatives, develops solution specifications and job estimation. Analyzes, designs, develops and tests software business application solutions. Updates, modifies and customizes new designs for software system enhancements, which include: presentation and business logic layers. Perform programmer/analyst tasks for business applications as assigned, to include: Financial, Human Resource and Retail/Merchandise that may support MCFTB applications. Maintains several application components that constitute one or more basic functional subsystems. Develops programming solutions for transaction processing, software system interfaces, input and output requirements, database queries, formatted reports and all other assigned programming tasks. Works in a team environment, learns assigned applications and development tools, and defines and applies technical solutions to satisfy functional requirements. Develops system documentation, instructions and project reports. Performs related duties as assigned.


Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is preferred. Four years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of and hands-on development experience for human resources, payroll and benefits software application systems and progressive experience in application development and maintenance. Experience using PeopleSoft development tools and utilities is preferred. Familiarity with at least one of the following languages: Microsoft Visual Basic, COBOL, C++ or PERL. Working knowledge of UNIX, Shell Script, and Microsoft Windows operation Systems. Knowledge and experience with Oracle SQL is a plus. Skill to work well in a team environment, communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and pursue self development opportunities. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
